BEST MADE COMPANY
EXPERIENCE-DRIVEN MARKETING STRATEGY
How might we expand the offerings of a successful outdoor adventure brand?
BRIEF:
Best Made Company – launched with the swing of an axe – has grown into an outdoor adventure organization whose offerings include axes and blades, bags and cases, apparel and camp gear. They define themselves as a business that “finds meaning through making, and making things the best way they possibly can.” Their brand experience is not just about quality adventure products. It is equally about storytelling, experiences and relationships with customers.
Operating as an on-line business for several years, Best Made opened their first retail shop in Tribeca in 2013. The company recently expanded to a shop in Los Angeles and produces a print catalog as a complement to their on-line business. As the business continues to grow, they are looking for ways in which to build the brand.
challenge:
To explore ways in which Best Made can expand it’s offerings in the form of outdoor/adventure/maker experiences. Developing a plan for positioning, growth and expansion over time was an important part of this project along with a suggested launch and targeted marketing strategy.
The goal was to not only develop concepts for expansion of the Best Made brand but to build an equally strong business case with a clear strategy for deployment.
SOLUTION:
Taking the Best Made products, workshops and lifestyle to the consumer, instead of the other way around. Our goal was to take Best Made’s in-store workshops outside, to the public. We identified three different experience routes including a Best Made® Tiny Home in collaboration with New Frontier Tiny Homes & Land Rover.
Each workshop was paired with a local ambassador & a patch that could be redeemed at Best Made’s coastal retail locations.
A series of campsites around parks in New York and Los Angles each hosting one of five workshops that aligned with Best Made’s brand philosophies.
